Problem 8.46

I am having trouble in solving this problem.

Firstly, which bodies do I take as 2-force members.
Then, small oscillations about which point should be taken?

Body BOA is not a two-force member since forces are acting at three locations. The short link between pin A and the particle is a two-force member. This says that the force on BOA due to this link has a direction that is aligned with the link.

Draw an FBD of body BOA, as well as an FBD of the particle. The small angle approximation can be applied to the rotation of BOA.
