Problem 8/72

How do you come up with the equation for the force? I am guessing the frequency is just 1/T found from the equation of the road, but I am coming up with something way off.

Note that the wheel for the trailer is experiencing a "base motion" due to the roughness of the road. That is, the vertical motion of the wheel, call it y_w, can be written directly as a sinusoidal function of the position along the road, call that position "z".

Since z = v*t, this base motion y_w becomes a function of time. From this function of time, you can identify the "frequency" of excitation.
