Homework Problem 5/76

Suggestions:
As discussed in lecture, to solve the velocity problem for a mechanism (such as the one shown above), we need to write down a rigid body velocity equation for each link in the mechanism. Therefore, for this problem, you will need three rigid body kinematics equations such as:

v_B = v_C + omega_BC x r_B/C
v_A = v_O + omega_AO x r_A/O
v_B = v_A + omega_AB x r_B/A

If you substitute the first two equations into the third equation, you are left with a single vector equation (TWO scalar equations) in terms of two unknowns: omega_BC and omega_AO. Solve!

Are you getting a negative or positive value for omega_BC?

I got a positive number.

I got a positive value too, make sure the sign you used for omega_BC at the beginning is consistent throughout your calculations, so if you happened to use omega_BC in the negative k, then your negative answer would confirm that omega_BC is actually positive
